MJM Grand Inc., of Spokane, has submitted an apparent-low bid of $1 million for a street rehabilitation project that includes rebuilding a nearly three-quarter-mile section of Wellesley Avenue between Driscoll Boulevard and Assembly Street in northwest Spokane, says Ann Deasy, a city spokeswoman.
The work will include installing 18,000 square yards of new asphalt roadway, 1,500 square yards of concrete sidewalk, 532 linear feet of storm sewer pipe, and 14 storm drains, the city's project description says. It also will include replacing a 12-inch water main along that stretch of Wellesley, Deasy says.
Although the City Council still must approve the contract, she says she expects construction on the 11-week project to begin within a month.
Construction will be done in two phases. In the first phase, which includes repaving the intersection at Wellesley and Driscoll, traffic will be detoured onto Alberta Street via Garland and Rowan avenues, Deasy says. In the second phase, the Wellesley construction detour will route traffic to and from Assembly via Rowan and Driscoll, she says.
