A new restaurant to be called The Grille from Ipanema will open in November in the Parkside tower in Coeur d'Alene, says Monte Miller, a principal in Miller Stauffer Architects PA, of Coeur d'Alene, which designed and developed the building on the east edge of downtown.
The eatery will occupy 4,000 square feet of space in the plaza level of the 20-story, mixed-use tower at 601 Front Ave., where diners will have views of Lake Coeur d'Alene and the Tubbs Hill park, Miller says.
He describes the restaurant as a Brazilian steakhouse. Under that concept, skewered meats, including beef, pork, and chicken, will be grilled over mesquite coals within view of diners, and food servers will slice the meats and place portions on diners' plates at their tables, he says.
Brazil natives Adriano de Sousa and Moacir Lopez Jr. will own the restaurant and plan to hire about 20 employees, Miller says. It will seat 115 people inside and another 75 in an outdoor plaza.
The restaurant's name is taken from the 1960s bossa nova song, "The Girl from Ipanema."
