Houston-based Register Tapes Unlimited Inc. has leased 10,000 square feet of floor space in the River Ridge Shopping Center for a call center and plans to employ 30 people there, says commercial real estate broker Joel Crosby.
Register Tapes Unlimited sells coupon advertising that's printed on grocery store cash-register paper. Company representatives couldn't be reached for comment, but its Web site says it supplies more than 7,500 grocery stores throughout the U.S. with cash-register tape. Register Tapes Unlimited also has a display advertising division that specializes in placing ads on benches, carts, and bulletin boards, the Web site says.
The leased River Ridge space, part of a 43,000-square-foot former grocery store, is being transformed into office space, says Crosby, who adds that he doesn't know when the space will be ready for Register Tapes to occupy.
Crosby and Dale Bright, both of Coldwell Banker Tomlinson South Commercial Real Estate, handled the transaction.
Crosby says the remaining vacant space in the former grocery store site will be remodeled and partitioned as it's leased, likely for office space.
AJR LLC, a Spokane real estate investment company that also owns several Spokane-area convenience stores, recently bought the 152,000-square-foot shopping center at the southwest corner of Wellesley Avenue and Assembly Street.
The shopping center had been anchored by a grocery store, River Ridge Food 4 Less, which closed its doors after operating there for about a year.
Before that, the grocery-store space had been occupied by a Yoke's Fresh Market store that operated there for 16 years until late 2007.
Stadium Pizza Parlor is a longtime tenant at the shopping center.
