The former North Side Global Fitness outlet that closed in July has reopened as The Fitness Center Inc.
Gene Cavender, who owns the new venture with Fred Lopez and Joey Fenske, says they spent about $400,000 updating the 33,000-square-foot facility, which is located at 110 W. Price, near the North Division "Y."
He says Lopez bought the building last year before Global Fitness closed, and that The Fitness Center is leasing the space from Lopez. Global Fitness consolidate to its 54,000-square-foot Spokane Valley location after leaving in July.
Cavender says The Fitness Center now includes a women's center designed around women's fitness needs.
The Fitness Center offers corporate discounts, and month-to-month memberships range from $35 for one person, $50 for two people, and $60 for a family.
The Fitness Center has 26 full- and part-time employees, and Cavender says the owners hope to open another Fitness Center location in the future, based on the growth at the North Side location.
