The old Jim’s Home Brew Supply building at 2619 N. Division will be turned into a third location for Airway Heights-based auto dealership Cal Cars, pre-development conference application documents filed with the city of Spokane show.
Representatives from Cal Cars couldn’t be reached immediately for comment on details of the new lot.
Jay Torgerson, project manager for Rob’s Demolition, in Spokane, which has been selected for demolition work at the site, says the demolition work can begin once the asbestos on the property has been removed from the home brew building.
Demolition of the building will take one to two weeks for a project that size, Torgerson says.
Site plans show the former home brew building, located one block north of the General Store on the west side of North Division Street, will be demolished and replaced with asphalt. The 14,500-square-foot building formerly occupied by Party Palace, at 2607 N. Division, will remain on site and will be remodeled to suit the dealership’s needs.
George H. Lawrence III and Kelly Lawrence are the governors of L III Inc., which does business as Cal Cars, according to the Washington state Department of Revenue. The Lawrences purchased the former Jim’s Home Brew site for $1.2 million in August, real estate tax records on file with the Department of Revenue show.
No estimated cost for the dealership project is listed on the pre-development application. The Spokane County Assessor’s Office has assessed the taxable value of the land at $696,000 for 2021.
A contractor for the car lot isn’t listed on the pre-development documents.
Cal Cars opened in 2002 as Consumer Auto Liquidators. The auto dealership has two locations currently. One is at 10828 W. Sunset Highway, in Airway Heights, on the southwest corner of Hayford Road and Sunset Highway. The other is located at 1818 N. Fourth, in Coeur d’Alene’s midtown neighborhood.
