T.W. Clark Construction LLC, of Spokane, says it has landed a $6.1 million contract to build a new police station in Walla Walla, Wash., about 150 miles southwest of Spokane.
Jon Huettl, a project manager for T.W. Clark, says the company will start construction this month, and the project will be completed in 14 months.
The work includes erecting a 30,000-square-foot, single-story structure. The concrete-and-steel building will have a mix of masonry veneers and metal siding, Huettl says.
Integrus Architecture PS, of Spokane, designed the project. Building Dynamics LLC, of Walla Walla, is the construction manager and will oversee the project on behalf of the city of Walla Walla, Huettl says.
The Walla Walla Police Department currently occupies 9,000 square feet of space in Walla Walla City Hall near the city's center, and some of its operations are housed in other locations, the city's Web site says. All police department offices will be consolidated in the new building, which will be about a half-mile northwest of City Hall, just north of U.S. 12, the Web page says.
The project is being funded through a levy approved by voters last year.
T.W. Clark has landed other projects in the Walla Walla area. Currently, it's wrapping up work on a $2.6 million, 26,000-square-foot Walla Walla Public Schools' Support Services Building, which will be completed in December, and recently completed construction of a $3.7 million, 16,600-square-foot Southeast Washington Transportation Cooperative facility, which serves bus fleets from four school districts.
