Wendle Motors Inc., of Spokane, says it plans to build a $1 million showroom for its Infiniti dealership on the North Side.
The planned 6,000-square-foot showroom structure will include a customer lounge and a service write-up area dedicated to the Infiniti brand, says Shayne Goff, general manager at Wendle Motors, at 9000 N. Division.
"Infiniti has expanded its product offerings," Goff says. "That requires more room and attention than what we've been giving it."
Vandervert Construction Inc., of Spokane, is the contractor on the project, and Bernardo Wills Architects PC, of Spokane, designed it.
The project was under review by the city of Spokane earlier this week, but Goff says he expects construction will begin as soon as a building permit is issued. He declines to estimate when the project will be completed.
Goff says the Infiniti showroom will be located just north of the 60,000-square-foot Wendle Ford complex. The Infiniti line currently is crowded into shared space with Wendle Nissan, which is just south of the Ford facility, he says.
The automotive group likely won't hire additional employees immediately because of the new showroom, Goff says.
"Hopefully, we will increase sales and will have need for additional people," he says.
Wendle Motors has 133 employees combined in its Ford, Nissan, and Infiniti dealerships clustered near the Division Street-Newport Highway junction known as the "Y."
