The Spokane Airport Board has received construction contract bids for two separate projects totaling just over $800,000 that are expected to take place later this spring and summer at Spokane International Airport and at Felts Field.
Power City Electric Inc., of Spokane, is the apparent low bidder, at roughly $328,000, for the second phase of an overall $660,000 lighting improvement project in the south parking garage at Spokane International Airport, says airport spokesman Todd Woodard.
He says that project will involve the installation of more than 430 LED light fixtures and 15 exit lights at the five-floor parking garage. That garage is located nearest to the terminal and was constructed about 10 years ago.
During the five-week project, Woodard says the parking garage will remain open to travelers. Work is scheduled to take place this year, though the specific start date depends up when the LED fixtures arrive, he says.
Aztech Electric Inc., of Spokane, completed the first phase of the lighting project in 2010 under a $332,000 contract, Woodard says. That contract included installing conduit, wiring, and a control system to prepare the parking garage for the upcoming phase of work.
Meanwhile, Woodard says Spokane-based Cobra BEC Inc., with a bid of $475,000, is the low bidder for a separate project to replace the roofs of three buildings at Felts Field.
Two of those buildings serve as aircraft hangars and have a combined total of 40,000 square feet. The third building is an 8,400-square-foot office building that serves as the Federal Aviation Administration's flight standards district office, he says.
Work on that project is expected to occur between May and August, Woodard says, adding that Cobra BEC's bid came in almost $100,000 below the engineer's estimate of $568,000.
Both project contracts are anticipated to be awarded by the Spokane Airport Board at its April 18 meeting, Woodard says.
