Real Life Ministries Spokane has bought a building on the North Side that formerly was occupied by a Gold's Gym outlet and plans to establish its first permanent home there, says Brad Spears, a spokesman for the church.
The 20,000-square-foot structure is located at 10101 N. Nevada, just east of the Northpointe Plaza shopping center.
The church, acting as its own contractor, is remodeling the building to reconfigure it for worship services, which are scheduled to begin there in November, says Spears, a Colbert homebuilder involved in the project. The structure also will be used for community and youth programs, he says.
Real Life Ministries Spokane, a nondenominational Christian church that now has 800 members, was formed in March 2010, starting with less than two dozen members, Spears says.
Sunday services currently are held at Evergreen Elementary School, at 215 W. Eddy, and Real Life Ministries Spokane's office is at 113 E. Magnesium.
The church is affiliated with seven other Real Life churches, including congregations in Spokane Valley, Post Falls, and Coeur d'Alene.
Commercial real estate agents Bob Spooner, of Goodale & Barbieri Co., and Steve Peterson, of Coldwell Banker Tomlinson, both of Spokane, handled the transaction.
