Seattle-based Pennon Construction Co. is erecting a 5,000-square-foot building in the Spokane Valley to house a Mattress Firm retail store.
Madison Sprague II LLC, of Kirkland, Wash., is developing the structure, which will be located at 4707 E. Sprague, on the east side of the Custer Road entrance to a recently constructed Wal-Mart Stores Inc. supercenter. Wal-Mart Stores, the giant Bentonville, Ark.-based retail chain, opened its new 160,000-square-foot supercenter at 5025 E. Sprague this fall.
Construction of the Mattress Firm outlet near the entrance to the Walmart store is expected to be completed by early next year. A city of Spokane Valley building permit lists the value of the project at $405,500, and Madison Sprague II paid $463,000 to buy half an acre for the building site this summer, the Spokane County Assessor's Office says.
NNN Development LLC, of Spokane, sold the property to Madison Sprague II.
The new store will be a franchise outlet of a retail chain operated by Houston-based Mattress Firm Holding Corp., which has more than 1,000 outlets across 28 states, the company's website says. The retailer carries different brands of mattresses, bed frames, pillows, bedding accessories, and related products.
The project architect is Winton Architects Inc., of Phoenix, and Spokane Valley-based Whipple Consulting Engineers Inc. provided land development consulting services for the project.
Chad Carper and Jim Quigley, both of Kiemle & Hagood Co., handled the sale of the property.
