Triple Play Family Fun Park, the amusement center attached to the Holiday Inn Express, in Hayden, Idaho, recently added a 350-foot water slide to its Raptor Reef indoor water park and a synthetic-ice rink in an outdoor section of the center, says Cody Chambers, a spokeswoman for Triple Play and the hotel.
In all, Triple Play has invested more than $500,000 in the new attractions, Chambers says.
The slide, named The Constrictor, has a tight spiral curve and accommodates riders on two-person inflatable tubes, she says.
The water park now has four main water slides, the largest of which is nearly 400 feet long. Raptor Reef also has four smaller slides in the children's play area.
Chambers says the new slide has a special slick coating that makes it the fastest in the water park.
"We're running time trials to see exactly how fast it is," she says.
The slide was manufactured and installed by WhiteWater West Industries Ltd., of Richmond, British Columbia.
The recently opened 3,200-square-foot skating rink has a surface of synthetic ice material, Cody says. "It's not frozen. It's just like a hard plastic material," she says, adding that Triple Play plans to operate the rink year-round.
The rink is operated in half-hour sessions and can accommodate 30 to 40 skaters, Chambers says.
The amusement center rents out skates for use at the rink that are similar to hockey skates, she says.
Triple Play bought the rink at a trade show and the center's staff installed it, Chambers says.
Other attractions at Triple Play include bowling, go-carts, bumper boats, a climbing wall, and video games.
The amusement center and 96-room hotel are located at the northeast corner of U.S. 95 and Orchard Avenue, about four miles north of Interstate 90.
