Genesis Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, has started work on a 5,300-square-foot, $664,000 office and retail building in North Spokane.
Bob Bennie, owner of Genesis Construction, says the single-story structure located at 11402 N. Newport Highway will have three commercial spaces ranging in size from 1,300 square feet to 2,200 square feet of floor space.
Bennie says construction began in December and is expected to be completed by April.
Charles Gallagher, who owns the Institute for Physical & Sports Therapy, is developing the building and plans to move his physical therapy practice there once the structure is completed.
The practice will occupy the building's center unit, which will have roughly 2,200 square feet of floor space.
Gallagher says the new space the physical therapy practice plans to occupy is about 600 square feet larger than its current space, located at 10109 N. Nevada, next to a structure that once housed a Gold's Gym.
He says both remaining units in the planned new building are available for lease.
Gallagher says that about three months ago, he bought two parcels of land where the new building is being constructed.
He has the option of constructing up to 1,800 square feet of additional retail or office space on the remaining vacant land.
Spokane-based Russell Page Architects designed the new structure, and Endurance Northwest LLC is the property management company for the building.
