American Childhood Cancer Organization Inland Northwest has moved to space in a Wells Fargo Bank branch building on Spokane's South Hill from smaller quarters in Spokane Valley, says executive director Mary Anne Ruddis.

Wells Fargo donated space in the building, located at 3021 S. Regal, to the organization, she says.

American Childhood Cancer Organization Inland Northwest provides financial and emotional support to families with children who are receiving treatment for cancer, working with families in Eastern Washington, North Idaho, and western Montana.

Ruddis says the South Hill location is twice the size of its former office space at 10623 E. Sprague that it had shared with Mary Mary Marketing, a business unaffiliated with Ruddis. She says it currently occupies five offices in a total of about 1,000 square feet of space, compared with a 500-square-foot office at its previous location.

"Sharing a space was great for a while, but I think having our own space is really going to be able to enhance the work we can do," Ruddis says.

The organization has an additional satellite office at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital that serves as its main office for direct patient or parent contact. Ruddis says that office will continue to operate there.

The South Hill office space previously was occupied by the Starlight Children's Foundation Northwest, Ruddis says.

The organization has two full-time employees and about 30 volunteers that help out regularly.

The chapter has been operating in Spokane since 1977. It's part of a national organization based in Maryland that was started in 1970.
