Spokane-based Providence Health Care announced this morning it has named Alex Jackson as the new chief executive of Providence Spokane hospitals Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital and Holy Family Hospital.
Currently chief operating officer of Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, Jackson will fill the position left vacant when Elaine Couture became chief executive of Providence Health Care, overseeing all of that organization's 11 entities, in late 2012.
Jackson is scheduled to start May 20.
Couture said in a press release, "Alex is an accomplished health care leader with a successful track record."
Jackson, who was raised in Montana, has worked for Providence hospitals in Oregon for more than 15 years, and Providence says in the release that he has led initiatives in quality improvement, operational performance, business development, and patient satisfaction.
