Command Center Inc., a temporary staffing company, has named a new CEO and moved its headquarters from Post Falls to Coeur d'Alene.
Meanwhile, the company has reported net income of $1.6 million, or 2 cents a diluted share, for all of 2012, up from $900,000, or 1 cent a share, in 2011.
Dan Jackson, Command Center's chief financial officer, says Frederick Standford began Feb. 22 as the company's president and CEO, replacing Glenn Welstad, who submitted his resignation earlier in February. Welstad, who founded Command Center in 2002, couldn't be reached for comment.
However, Jackson says about Welstad's departure, "I think he was ready to try something new and made that call."
Welstad's son, Todd Welstad, continues to work at the company as chief operating officer.
Command Center provides temporary workers for businesses in the fields of light industrial, hospitality and event services, skilled trades, and disaster-related services, among others.
Jackson says the company moved its headquarters in January to 3901 N. Schreiber Way in Coeur d'Alene, from 3773 W. Fifth in Post Falls.
"We upgraded our space," Jackson says.
Along with its headquarters, Command Center operates branch staffing offices in Spokane, at 3803 N. Division, and in Coeur d'Alene, at 1323 E. Sherman. It had a total of 59 branch offices in 24 states at the end of 2012, up from 51 branches in 23 states at the end of 2011.
Command Center's permanent employees total about 210 workers, Jackson says.
As for its financial performance last year, Command Center says its operating revenue increased by 20 percent, totaling $98.4 million for a 52-week period ending Dec. 28, compared with revenue of $81.9 million for the same period in the prior year.
Last year, it acquired the assets of a former competitor, DR Services of Louisiana LLC, which provides job placements for disaster relief and recovery and now is a wholly-owned Command Center subsidiary under the name of DR Services Inc.
In 2012, the company says it provided temporary employment for 35,500 people who worked 5.5 million hours for more than 3,400 clients.
Standford, 51, was appointed CEO after previously having worked as an independent management consultant to Silicon Valley venture capitalists and entrepreneurs. From 2003 to 2005, Standford was COO for The Environmental Trust Inc., a land mitigation organization, and in 2000, he founded AmeriClear LLC, a liquid waste company he sold in 2002.
