The Washington Policy Center, an independent, nonpartisan think tank promoting sound public policy based on free-market solutions, will hold its 2013 Annual Dinner on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Spokane Convention Center, 334 W. Spokane Falls Blvd. The Spokane speaker will be S.E. Cupp, columnist at the New York Daily News and a contributing editor at Townhall Magazine. The statewide speakers will be presented via webcast. They are Dr. Ben Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon and opinion columnist for the Washington Times, and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. The cost is $100 for dinner and public reception. Partnership for Learning and the Washington Roundtable will hold a free Business and Education Conference on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Davenport Hotel, 10 S. Post. The conference will address the needs of the 21st century education system. Tom Vander Ark, CEO of Getting Smart, and a national expert on digital learning and innovation in education, will be the keynote speaker.
