Baker Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, has been selected as the contractor for two new commercial buildings in Spokane Valley with a combined value of $1.4 million, building permit application information on file with the city of Spokane Valley shows.
One building is a retail center with 9,100 square feet of floor space, valued at about $782,000, and the other is a planned United Health Services Credit Union Spokane Valley branch building, valued at $650,000.
The site for the retail building is a nearly 1-acre lot at 4902 E. Sprague, formerly occupied by a Cheap Cheap Carpet outlet, directly across from a Walmart store, says Marshall Clark, president of Clark Pacific Real Estate Co., of Spokane, which is the leasing agent for the building.
Russell C. Page Architects P.S., of Spokane, designed the structure, which will include up to five retail bays.
Clark says lease negotiations are under way for at least three potential tenants, although he declines to name them.
Building permit application information lists the project owner as Pardun Properties LLC, which is led by Heike and Thomas Pardun, of Spokane.
The United Health Services Credit Union project, to be located at 16402 E. Sprague, will be the Spokane-based credit union's third branch.
The project will include a 3,700-square-foot, stand-alone structure with a drive-thru area on a 1-acre lot at the southeast corner of Sprague Avenue and Conklin Road.
Zach Bull, a project manager for Baker, says construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of April.
Longwell+Trapp Architects PLLC, of Hayden, Idaho, designed the project.
The credit union bought the property in 2008 for $435,000, Spokane County Assessor's records show.
United Health Services Credit Union's main branch is located at 603 S. Washington. The credit union also shares a branch with Spokane Federal Credit Union and Progressions Credit Union, at 1212 W. Francis, on the North Side.
