Coffman Engineers Inc. has opened an office in Oakland, Calif., where it has hired the former owner and staff of a smaller engineering firm, says Adrienne Pool, Spokane-based marketing coordinator for Coffman Engineers.
Seattle-based Coffman Engineers’ office here has one of the largest engineering staffs in Spokane.
Jeff Weber, founder and owner of the Oakland firm, Jeffrey Weber & Associates Inc., is now general manager of the Northern California office, which last month changed its name to Coffman Engineers, making it the larger company’s seventh office.
Two employees from JWA also will be part of the initial Coffman Engineers staff there, although other Coffman personnel also will work out of that office, Pool says.
Coffman Engineers, a 35-year-old multidiscipline engineering company, provides civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering services, often on large commercial projects.
Its Spokane office, which opened in 1995, is located on the fifth floor of the Peyton Building, at 10 N. Post, in downtown Spokane. The company currently has 30 engineers and a total staff of 73 there.
The Spokane office’s current projects include the $13 million Riverstone West and Riverstone Plaza apartments, in Coeur d’Alene, and a $131 million U.S. Embassy complex in Mauritania, Africa.
Pool says revenue has been trending upward companywide.
“Coffman has definitely continued to see steady revenue and staff growth the past several years,” Pool says.
In terms of staffing, the Spokane office is the second largest of Coffman Engineering’s seven offices. Its Anchorage office is its largest, with a staff of 82.
The Seattle office has a staff of 71, followed by offices in Honolulu, with 19, Los Angeles, with 13, and Hagatna, Guam, with three.
