Interior and exterior renovations are under way at the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn & Conference Center, where some upgrades will harken to design features at the upscale Coeur d’Alene Resort, says Mike O’Brien, general manager of the Coeur d’Alene Inn.
O’Brien declines to disclose the cost of the upgrades. City building permits put the construction value alone at $750,000.
The project will include replacing the Coeur d’Alene Inn’s blue roof with copper roofing that will match the resort’s roofing, O’Brien says.
Coeur d’Alene-based Hagadone Hospitality Co. owns and operates both the Coeur d’Alene Inn, located at 506 W. Appleway, in north Coeur d’Alene, and the resort, located downtown on the north shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene.
The new signature roof profile will connect the Coeur d’Alene Inn visually as a sister property with the resort, O’Brien says.
Other design upgrades will be unique to the Coeur d’Alene Inn, he says. The Coeur d’Alene Inn includes 122 guest rooms, a lounge, a full-service restaurant, a recreation center with an indoor pool, and 13,000 square feet of meeting and conference space.
Interior improvements will include a new lobby with a lighted water feature, check-in booths, and digital displays that will provide event and directional information, O’Brien says. New beds with oversized headboards will be installed in each guest room.
The hotel’s restaurant, Mulligan’s Bar & Grill, will be redesigned with a new ceiling with translucent, backlit panels that are intended to create the effect of viewing the sky through trees, O’Brien says.
The conference center will have new floor and wall coverings. Guests will be able to control a new high-tech sound system with their digital devices, O’Brien says, adding that the entire building will be repainted and new energy-efficient glass will replace old windows.
Additional exterior improvements will include a new parking lot and landscaping around the property.
T.W. Clark Construction LLC, of Spokane, is the contractor on the project. Longwell+Trapp Architects PLLC, of Hayden, and Coeur d’Alene architect Rann Haight designed it. The project is scheduled to be completed by July 1.
