J.W. Elmer Construction Co., of Spokane, has started work on a Kootenai County Ancillary Services Building project at 331 W. Garden in Coeur d’Alene that includes erecting a 10,000-square-foot, one-story building.
Construction on the $1.5 million project began in March and is expected to be completed by late August.
The building will house Kootenai County’s building and grounds department as well as its reprographics department, says Shawn Riley, operations manager of the county’s building and grounds department.
Riley says the county’s reprographics department will occupy half of the basement, or about 2,500 square feet, and the remaining space will be allocated to the building and grounds department. That department currently occupies about 4,500 square feet of space in a rented building at 314 N. Third. The reprographics department currently is located at 451 Government Way in the Kootenai County administration building.
Design firms on the project include Architects West Inc., of Coeur d’Alene, and Landmark Landscape Architects, a division of Architects West.
