A new three-story apartment building is planned at 2520 N. Regal, north of the Spokane River, in the Bemiss neighborhood, according to a building permit application on file with the city of Spokane.
The 12-unit project, named Regal Multi-Family, is valued at $1.8 million. The building will have a footprint of 2,500 square feet and a total of 7,800 square feet of living space, permit information shows.
Baker Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, is the general contractor on the project.
The project architect is Evan Verduin, principal with Trek Architecture, also of Spokane, and Chris Ferrera of the Spokane office of DCI Engineers is listed as the project engineer.
Regal Multi-Family is owned by Julie and Steven Hartling, of Spokane, who also own other rental properties in the Spokane area. Those holdings include a three-story multifamily building, Hamilton Townhomes, on the southeast corner of Indiana Avenue and Hamilton Street, in the Logan neighborhood, near Gonzaga University.
Julie Hartling says the project construction is expected to start this spring and is slated to be completed between January and March of 2023.
The complex will be made up of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, says Hartling.
“We want them to be nice with some upgrades,” she says.
Hartling adds that she’ll set rent prices after an appraisal is made.
According to a report by San Francisco-based online renting platform Apartment List, median monthly rents in Spokane were $950 for a one-bedroom apartment, and $1,300 for a two-bedroom apartment as of March. That’s an increase of 0.5% compared with February and a 15.8% rise compared with March 2021.
