More than three years after moving out of the University District, Spokane restaurateur Mark Starr appears to be readying to reopen a David’s Pizza restaurant at a larger location north of downtown.
The city of Spokane recently issued plumbing and electrical permits to resume work on the David’s Pizza remodeling project at the former Wonder Bread bakery at 803 N. Post, about a block southwest of Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
Starr couldn’t be reached for comment.
The original building permit application information, which was filed in 2012, says the restaurant will take up 6,400 square feet of space in the two-story building, including a 4,100-square-foot dining area, a 2,200-square-foot kitchen and storage area, and a small office space.
Bernardo|Wills Architects PC, of Spokane, designed the project.
David’s Pizza also has applied for a liquor license for the Post Street location, according to the Washington State Liquor Control Board.
David’s Pizza had been located at 829 E. Boone, where it occupied a 3,000-square-foot building for about 14 years. The building was razed in 2011 to make way for the Clementine Square multitenant retail development. Since then, Starr has served David’s Pizza at Famous Ed’s, a restaurant and sports bar he and Dale Kleist co-own, at 2911 E. 57th, on the South Hill.
