Intermountain West Insulation & Garage Doors recently moved its Spokane Valley branch into a new building in which it has incorporated many of the energy-saving insulation products that it sells and installs for commercial and residential customers.
David Christensen, the branch manager, says the Kennewick-based company invested more than $1 million in the 13,100-square-foot building, at 16314 E. Lacrosse.
Intermountain West Insulation acted as its own contractor on the project, and Pro Builders, of Spokane, erected the steel building as a subcontractor, Christensen says. Haines Architectural Services, of Spokane, designed the project.
The Valley branch formerly had been located in smaller quarters at 6523 E. Main, he says.
The warehouse building includes 3,000 square feet of office space with a large conference and training room, Christensen says.
In addition to state-of-the-art insulation technology, the building’s sustainable design innovations include motion-sensor lights; a high-efficiency heating cooling and air conditioning system; and water- and energy-conserving plumbing.
“We tried to be very energy tight,” Christensen says.
The building showcases Intermountain West Insulation’s energy efficiency expertise, he says, adding “Everybody has always asked, ‘What would we do if it were our place?’”
Intermountain West Insulation sells and installs Owens Corning insulation products and garage doors manufactured by Northwest Door for both the residential and commercial markets, Christensen says.
“We specialize in anything with insulation,” he says, adding that Intermountain West Insulation has been the insulation subcontractor for a number of school projects, including Shadle Park and Deer Park high schools and, more recently, several elementary schools.
“We work for a lot of residential contractors and apartment projects,” Christensen adds.
Dean Moody founded Intermountain West Insulation, in Kennewick, in 1981. The company opened its satellite operation in Spokane Valley in 2006, followed by branches in Yakima and Wenatchee.
Intermountain West Insulation has 29 employees at its Valley branch and recently topped 100 employees in all.
