City of Spokane Business and Developer Services director Jan Quintrall announced this afternoon that she’s stepping down.
Mayor David Condon has named Scott Simmons, a strategic business analyst with the city, as interim director to replace Quintrall, who has agreed to assist Simmons during a short transition period.
In a press release from the city, Quintrall said, “The recent attention on me has made it clear that I have broken the public’s trust, and I can’t repair that.”
Quintrall made headlines last fall after the firing of popular city planning director Scott Chesney and reports that she and called for the firing of Downtown Spokane Partnership President Mark Richard.
The Spokesman-Review reported earlier this week that Quintrall had used city funds to pay for staff lunches at the Spokane Club.
Quintrall started work at the city about three years ago, when Condon appointed her as business and developer services director upon taking office.
