Development company 940 N. Ruby LLC, owned by San Clementine, Calif.-based Larry Simon and David Schneider, plans to break ground next week on a six-story, 61-unit apartment building on the west edge of the Gonzaga University campus.
Work on the development is expected to take just over a year to complete, and the units are slated to be available to rent before the fall term of 2016, the developers said in a press release.
The building’s 61 apartment suites will have a total of about 79,000 square feet of livable space. Each unit will include either three or four bedrooms, and in all, developers say, the building will be able to accommodate up to 213 students.
Baker Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, will be the general contractor on the project, and California-based Jay S. Crawford AIA designed the structure. Black Realty Management Inc., of Spokane, will be the property manager there.
