For the second time in as many months, Liberty Lake-based multifamily residential developer Rudeen Developments LLC has obtained building permits to construct a large apartment complex in Spokane County.
The most recently permitted Rudeen Developments project is a $9.9 million, 99-unit apartment complex to be constructed next to the Gleneden neighborhood in the Wandermere area north of Spokane, recent Spokane County building permit records show.
Rudeen Developments’ CEO and majority owner Kevin Rudeen couldn’t be reached for comment.
Blue Point Apartments LLC, a Rudeen affiliate, is listed on county records as the owner of two parcels totaling 17.5-acre of land at 15001 N. Wandermere Road.
The project site is about a quarter-mile south of Hatch Road, bordered by U.S. 395 on its west side and Wandermere Road on its east side next to the Gleneden neighborhood.
The recently issued building permits encompass eight planned apartment structures. Five three-story buildings will have 12 to 24 units each, and three two-story structures will have three apartments each on their respective second floors.
The ground floor for one of the two-story structures will have 2,800 square feet of clubhouse and office space, and the ground floors of the other two-story buildings each will have 2,100 square feet of garage space.
The project also includes four separate one-story garage structures with four to six stalls each.
As the Journal reported last month, another Rudeen affiliate is developing the $13.1 million, 107-unit Northwood Heights apartment complex at the southwest corner of Argonne Road and Columbia Drive.
Rudeen Developments is the general contractor on both projects.
Earlier visions for the Blue Point Apartments project site have failed to come to fruition.
In 2010, Gary Grhamm, president of now defunct Beehive Homes of North Idaho, planned to develop a senior-living complex there.
In 2007, 4.5 acres of land in the center of the current project site had been platted for 22 single family homes.
Spokane County Assessor’s records show Blue Point Apartments bought the property last year for $470,000.
