An entrepreneurial and small business service center named Share Space has opened on the main floor of the Plechner Building at 610 W. Second, and is intended to provide users with workspace on an as-needed basis.
Share Space is using about 2,500 square feet of space that includes private offices and phone areas, conference rooms, tables and chairs, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a kitchen.
“It was built for individuals, small teams and startups,” says Tom Simpson, one the building’s three owners. “Currently we have about 27 members signed up. We’ve got room for approximately double that.”
Simpson, Rob Martinson, and Chip Overstreet bought the 9,400-square-foot, three-story building, former home of the Spokane Entrepreneurial Center, from Spokane small-business advocate and former City Councilman Steve Salvatori last year through a company they created called Plechner LLC.
Startup Spokane Central, a new business network aimed at entrepreneurs, is hosting a grand opening party at Share Space from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 15.
GSI hired Ryan Arnold in December to be its entrepreneurship program director, making him responsible for the leadership and guidance of assisting local business startups. Arnold also is serving as Share Space’s program director, Simpson says.
Arnold says users pay a flat rate of $100 per month and have all-hours access to the building.
“There are no tiers or any extras at this point,” Arnold says. “We want to keep it simple and affordable for our members.”
