Central Valley School District plans to start work next month on a $14 million elementary school building at 23909 E. Country Vista Drive, in Liberty Lake.
The planned structure, to be called Liberty Creek Elementary School, is the first major school construction project to be funded by the district’s $121.9 million bond measure passed last year. Some money for the project also will come from state matching funds.
Central Valley School District Deputy Superintendent Jay Rowell says, “This project will be about 13 months of work, depending on the weather, but we’re hoping for substantial completion by next spring.”
The completed building will include more than 74,000 square feet of space, with 39 standard classrooms, a computer lab, music classroom, and special education classrooms.
The general contractor for the project is T.W. Clark Construction LLC, of Spokane. MMEC Architecture & Interiors, the Spokane-based architecture firm previously known as Madsen Mitchell Evenson & Conrad PLLC, designed the project.
The building will be home to about 620 students in kindergarten through second grade. The current Liberty Lake Elementary School, which is located at 23606 E. Boone and currently accommodates students in kindergarten through the fifth grade, will be transitioned to handle students only in the three upper grades.
The new school will be constructed a short distance east of the current grade school, with the two separated by ball fields owned by the city of Liberty Lake.
