Baker Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, has been awarded $6.7 million in remodeling projects at four Red Lion Hotel locations. Work already has begun on all four of the projects, and three include remodeling both guest rooms and public spaces.
Baker has begun $3.2 million in remodeling work on guest rooms and corridors at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park here, at 303 W. North River Drive, and is awaiting permits for an additional $2 million worth of improvements to the hotel’s public areas.
Project manager Kirk Ledbetter says the upgrades to guest rooms began in February and includes installing new luxury vinyl flooring, repainting, adding a custom wall graphic, installing 55-inch televisions, and adding lighted mirrors in bathrooms.
“That project’s second phase will start shortly, and includes new coverings and flooring throughout the hotel’s corridors,” says Ledbetter. He says that project will likely start in May, and should be completed by late June.
Baker Construction is awaiting permits to start work on a remodel of the hotel’s other public spaces, including its bar, coffee bar, lounge, and lobby areas. The remodel also will include converting several fourth-floor meeting rooms into a suite and junior suite, along with upgrades to the building’s exterior paint and lighting.
Ledbetter says the remodel will add a live stage to the hotel’s dining area, with raised seating and a kind of trellis with poles extending up 25 feet into the hotel’s atrium.
Steven Meek Architects, of Spokane is the designer for the remodeling of the public spaces.
Baker Construction also has begun remodeling projects at several other Red Lion hotel locations, including Red Lion Templin’s Hotel in Post Falls, Red Lion Hotels’ Richland Hanford House in Richland, and Red Lion Hotel Pasco in Pasco.
Ledbetter says the $250,000 project at Templin’s in Post Falls will include updates to guest rooms, and improvements to the hotel’s bar and restaurant area. The project began April 12, and is expected to conclude by the end of May.
Brandon Spackman is Baker Construction’s project manager for the renovations at the Hanford House in Richland and the Red Lion Hotel Pasco.
Spackman says the $387,000 Hanford House project started in March and includes improvements to the hotel’s porte cochère, as well as paving and landscaping updates. The project also includes repainting and adding new light fixtures, rugs, and wall-mounted televisions in 149 guest rooms. Spackman estimates the project will be completed in early June.
Also set to wrap up in early June are upgrades to Red Lion’s Pasco hotel. Construction on that $909,000 project began in April, and includes refreshing 140 guest rooms with new paint, vinyl tile flooring, and wall-mounted televisions.
The hotel’s public areas, including the BIN 20 bar, lounge and restaurant also will be updated with new floor coverings, paint, light fixtures and all new furnishings.
In addition to those hotel projects, Baker Construction also began work in March on a $1.1 million office space remodel project.
Located in the Pinecroft Business Park at 12825 E. Mirabeau Parkway, the 19,600-square-foot office space will be home to Merchant e-Solutions, an electronic payment acceptance and management company owned by Cielo, a Brazilian-based credit and debit card operator.
Paul Riener, Baker Construction’s project manager for the office space upgrades, says the project is a standard tenant improvement office remodel that will include creating various office spaces for fewer than 50 people. Riener says the project should be completed by June. Atlanta-based Automated Systems Design Inc. is the architect for the project.
Merchant e-Solutions will be the building’s third tenant, the other two being Salesforce.com Inc. and Servatron Inc.
