The Idaho Department of Public Works has selected a team made up of H2A Architects PA, of Coeur d’Alene, and Integrus Architecture PS, of Spokane, to design a planned $9.7 million North Idaho Collaborative Education facility in Coeur d’Alene, says Elaine Hill, a project manager for the state agency.
The two-story, 30,000-square-foot structure will be located at the southwest corner of Hubbard Avenue and College Drive, near the north entrance to the North Idaho College campus.
The building will be a joint facility for North Idaho College, Lewis-Clark State College, and the University of Idaho.
The NICE facility will serve as a single-stop center for student admissions, financial aid, and advising. It will have 16 classrooms, computer labs, breakout rooms and support spaces and will be designed to support the potential future addition of a 300-seat auditorium, the Idaho Department of Public Works’ project description says.
Richard Colburn, a principal at H2A, says the Coeur d’Alene firm will be the architect of record and Integrus will be the design consultant.
Colburn says the contract calls for the design to be completed by fall.
The project likely will go out for construction bids next spring, with work to be completed in the spring or summer of 2018, he says.
Separately, H2A Architects designed the $2.5 million Boys & Girls Club facility currently under construction in Coeur d’Alene on a half-acre of land on the Lakes Middle School campus, at 925 N. 15th.
Young Construction Group of Idaho Inc. is the contractor on that project. That 20,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to be completed in September.
