The Spokane Airport Board has approved a lease agreement with White Rabbit Aviation LLC for space in the main terminal building at Felts Field.
Founded by owner Alan Bly in 2014, Spokane-based White Rabbit Aviation provides aircraft leasing and aviation consulting services. Bly says the company began offering helicopter tours under the name White Rabbit Heli Tours early this month.
White Rabbit owns two types of helicopters, both Robinsons, an R-22 and an R-44. The company uses the R-44 for helicopter tours.
The company is leasing a 120-square-foot office space on the main floor of the terminal building, as well as ramp space from the airport, and plans to lease hangar space elsewhere on the airfield. Bly currently runs both leasing and consulting services for White Rabbit, and White Rabbit Heli Tours, within that office space.
White Rabbit Heli Tours website lists three types of helicopter tour offerings, including a 12-minute to 15-minute Spokane City Tour for $75 per person, and 30-minute custom and romantic sunset tours available starting at $200 per flight.
Bly has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington State University and spent nearly 10 years in corporate sales and marketing. He completed his commercial helicopter pilot’s certificate at Inland Helicopters flight school in 2010 and began flying professionally soon after.
After flight school, Bly also developed a two-year helicopter flight training program for Big Bend Community College, in Moses Lake, which has since ended. However, he has plans to begin a new flight training program through North Idaho College this fall.
“That’s my other big project right now,” says Bly. “It’s available for enrollment right now, and should be in full swing for this fall.”
Bly also worked as an aircraft operator for the unmanned K-Max project with Lockheed Martin in support of the U.S. Marines in Afghanistan. The project included field testing drones for use in cargo transfers to and from marine bases. Altogether, he has accumulated nearly 2,000 hours in helicopters and unmanned aircraft systems.
White Rabbit has its Washington State business license and an FAA Part 91 letter of authorization. The company is in compliance with the airport’s minimum standards for commercial aeronautical activities.
