Construction is expected to start soon on a 15,000-square-foot building at Liberty Lake’s McKinzie Business Park, says Amanda Tainio, the planning and building services manager for the city of Liberty Lake.
“The project is currently under review, and we expect a decision in the next week or two,” says Tainio, who adds the estimated construction cost for the building is listed at $865,000.
Bill Betts, McKinzie LLC’s owner, says, “We hope to break ground soon and have the building complete by the spring weather permitting.”
The project architect is Eric Hedland Design, of Coeur d’Alene, and the general contractor will be Better Built Contracting, which Betts owns.
Located at 2207 N. McKinzie Lane, the structure will be able to accommodate up to 10 spaces, each with about 1,500 square feet of floor space.
The design and layout will mimic the first building constructed at the McKinzie Business Park, which was constructed in 2014 and is located at 2208 N. McKinzie Lane, just east of the site of the planned structure.
That single-story building was erected on a 36,000-square-foot portion of the roughly 252,000 square feet of land McKinzie LLC owns.
Betts says that building is fully leased and home to seven businesses that do work ranging from auto repairs to construction. Spokane-based concrete contractor Pacific Grinding is among the current tenants there, Betts says.
Betts anticipates having the second building fully leased not long after it’s completed. McKinzie LLC purchased the property in 2005 for $697,000.
