Cost Less Carpet store manager Wayne Gladden says the 2-year-old Spokane Valley store has moved to a building the company purchased at 115 N. Sullivan, giving it seven times more space than its previous Spokane Valley location, at 15310 E. Marietta.
“It’s just huge in here,” Gladden says of the 30,000-square-foot carpet store. “The Marietta location was about 4,000 square feet, with half that dedicated to office space and small showroom floor. Right now, we’re full stocked.”
Cost Less has a staff of 10 employees at the Valley store and moved into the new location, which previously housed a Ciena data center, in mid-March, he says.
Cost Less, based in Richland, is a full-service carpet flooring retailer that also sells laminate and hardwood flooring. Founded more than 20 years ago, the company also operates stores in Moses Lake; Yakima; Walla Walla; Boise; Columbia Falls, Mont.; Bend, Ore.; and Hermiston, Ore.; as well as two stores in the Tri-Cities, Gladden says.
“Our new location is the biggest one among the stores,” says Gladden, who says that companywide, Cost Less now is generating annual revenues of between $50 million and $60 million.
“And I would say that’s probably on the conservative side. It’s a phenomenal time for the company right now. We import directly from China, Italy, Spain … to name a few. I’m sure we’ll be hiring more before the year comes to an end,” he says.
