A fast-casual Mexican restaurant will take up the last remaining store frontage on the main floor of the recently renovated Bennett Block downtown, says a real estate broker involved in the lease negotiations.
MCW Tacos Washington LLC, a Spokane franchisee for the Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based Chronic Tacos Mexican Grill restaurant chain, has leased 2,000 square feet of space in the Bennett Block, says the broker, Stephen Pohl, of Spokane-based NAI Black.
Mark McLees, also of NAI Black, and Chris Schreiber, of Kiemle & Hagood Co., also helped negotiate the lease.
Representatives of Chronic Tacos couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.
Pohl says the restaurant likely will open this summer.
The company’s website says entree items include tacos, burritos, tostadas, salads, and quesadillas with choices of marinated grilled chicken, slow-cooked or spicy pork, marinated steak, beer-battered fish or shrimp, or vegetables.
Other specialty items include potato tacos, taquitos, flautas, nachos, Chronic fries, and a number of sides and extras. Chronic Tacos also offers four breakfast entrees.
Chronic Tacos, which was founded in 2002, has 38 restaurants in seven states and is in a fast-growth mode, according to the restaurant’s corporate website.
Planned outlets here and in Lakewood, Wash., will be the first Chronic Taco restaurants in the state, the website says. Four restaurant sites in other states are listed as “opening soon.”
The Chronic Taco chain also has three Canadian restaurants in the greater Vancouver, British Columbia, area.
Other tenants on the main floor of the three-story, 35,000-square-foot Bennett Block complex include Rocky Rococo Pizza, Carhartt Inc., Mizuna Restaurant & Wine Bar, and Indaba Coffee.
