Cd'A contractor expands with new Hayden office

Owner plans more hires, to grow finish carpentry

October 12, 2017

Coeur d’Alene-based Candela Construction has opened its second office.

Founder Jeff Candela says the company is leasing 8,200 square feet of space at 9896 Chelsea Court in Hayden for the new office.

While Candela Construction still occupies its original, 3,400-square-foot Coeur d’Alene office at 4295 Industrial Loop, the business was in need of additional space to expand the finish carpentry portion of the business, Candela says.

“The finish carpentry part of this industry is really taking off in our region, so we’re just kind of easing into it,” he says.

Finish carpentry projects can include the installation of finish woods and trim, crown molding, baseboards, windows, stairs, and other features of a building that require aesthetic appeal, he says.

Candela says the company currently employs seven people, two of whom are recent hires and are helping to operate the new location.

“We’ve hired two new people and are still looking to fill another three to five positions,” he says.

Candela says the company has had a 7 percent increase in revenue this year over last, and he’s forecasting additional growth.

“We’re definitely expecting to see growth in finish carpentry projects,” he says. “Lately, we’ve landed some out-of-town projects, some others that include manufacturing and shipping out, as well as some upcoming installation work.”

In addition to finish carpentry, the 20-year-old company provides a range of services, including general contracting, construction management, preconstruction, design build, general maintenance, and demolition.

Candela says some of the company’s current projects include remodeling work at the Kootenai Health, in Coeur d’Alene, and a finish cabinetry project at Tomlinson Sotheby’s International Realty, also in Coeur d’Alene.

Coeur d’Alene-based commercial real estate brokers Rob Kannapien, of Coldwell Banker Commercial Schneidmiller Realty, and Jim Koon, of NAI Black, negotiated Candela Construction’s second-office lease.
