Illinois-based hotel developer Tharaldson Hospitality Management plans to begin constructing a $10 million Marriott Springhill Suites near Spokane International Airport next spring, early planning documents show.
Predevelopment documents on file with the city of Spokane show plans for the development of a four-story, 111-guest-room hotel on a 2.6-acre site just north of the airport’s two parking garages, in a currently paved area abutting south Flint Road between the exit plaza and outbound Airport Drive.
In addition to guest rooms, the hotel project also is planned to include a bar, pool, and workout area.
The project is being designed by Las Vegas-based DesignCell Architecture, and Engineering Partners Inc., also of Las Vegas, is the project engineer.
Predevelopment plans show that construction is estimated to start in April 2018.
Don Cape, Las-Vegas-based director of development for Tharaldson Hospitality Management, declines to comment on the project.
Earlier this year, the Journal reported on two other hotel projects that were in preliminary planning stages near the airport, although city records show no recent activity with those proposals, which had not reached the permitting stage.
One of the projects was a $6.3 million, 87-room Sleep Inn-Mainstay hotel proposed near the Geiger Boulevard-Interstate 90 interchange east of the airport. The other was a $10 million, 84-room La Quinta Hotel proposed at 4523 S. Dowdy Road, just south of the airport.
