A new bridal boutique, to be called Honest in Ivory, is set to open in August in the Riverwalk building, at 1003 E. Trent.
Owner Cassie David, who is a practicing speech pathologist at Stepping Stones Pediatric Therapy, says her love of dresses and all things bridal prompted her to start her own business.
“In college, I spent some time working for a local designer gown shop, and I’ve also been bridal dress shopping with a lot of my friends,” she says. “It struck me that there’s not a lot of designer variety here in Spokane. Most shops carry the same stuff and give the same shopping experience.”
David says she set out to create her own shop that would feature unique, up-and-coming designer dresses, and provide a laid-back, nontraditional shopping experience.
The shop will be located in a leased 3,200-square-foot converted warehouse space formerly occupied by Brooks Engineering.
David says she and her family are doing most of the needed remodeling work themselves, with help from Spokane Valley-based contractor Mark Ivins Construction Inc.
“We wanted this space to be as modern and beautiful as the dresses featured in it,” she says. “So, it will be a bit simpler and open with lots of natural light.”
Honest in Ivory will carry bridal and bridesmaid gowns, bridal lingerie, shoes, jewelry, veils, and other bridal accessories, David says.
Honest in Ivory will be an appointment-only shop, without set hours.
David says she plans to hire at least three employees.
