Construction is underway on an expansion at Seltice Mini Storage Inc., where the number of units will jump to about 380 from 227, says complex owner Troy Mullenix.
The total project cost will be close to $1 million, he says.
Located at 2425 W. Seltice Way, in Post Falls, Seltice Mini Storage currently consists of units that come in 12 sizes, from 5-foot-by-10-foot spaces to 12-foot-by-30-foot spaces, he says.
Along with the new storage units, the project also might include some recreational vehicle spots as well, says Mullenix.
Construction began in May on the new units and is anticipated to be completed before September, says Mullenix.
Ginno Construction Co., of Coeur d’Alene, is the general contractor on the project, and ACE Solutions LLC, of Post Falls, is the architect.
Additionally, the company plans to improve its security system.
That will include installing new cameras and the ability to use mobile devices to open the facility gate remotely—in the event a customer is ever locked in, he says.
Because Seltice Mini Storage is a local establishment, “we felt it was important to make sure everything from our financing to our security upgrades to actual construction was done with local companies in the Post Falls-Coeur d’Alene area,” Mullenix says.
Depending on the storage unit, rates range from $59 to $170 per month, he says.
Mullenix purchased Seltice Mini Storage, formerly known as McGuire Self Storage, in January 2013.
The storage facility was built in 2006, he says.
Mullenix says many customers store household goods, but the company works with other clientele as well.
“We also cater to business storage, so a lot of businesses will use us—contractors, painters, we even have a few hotels,” Mullenix says.
The family-owned company is expanding, he says, because it had some available land on its site, and because Post Falls’ population is expected to expand in the future.
“We’ve stayed at or above 98 percent pretty much for the last for years, occupancy-wise. We know that the area is growing so much that it was a no-brainer to be able to add on some more units,” he says.
Seltice Mini Storage is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m.-3p.m. Saturday.
