West Plains trucking company TDR Logistics LLC is expanding with the recent purchase of two neighboring properties.
TDR marketing manager Slava Liashedko says the acquisition of two properties adjacent to TDR’s location at 3025 S. Geiger Blvd. has more than doubled the trucking company’s space to 15 acres from 6 acres. Liashedko says the company’s owners, brothers Timofey, Roman, and Dmitriy Oberemok, bought the properties for about $600,000 each. The decision to expand was partly predicated on TDR’s location, Liashedko says; he claims that being on the West Plains cuts down on time spent driving back and forth between Seattle and Spokane.
“It looks like it’s not that big of a deal but if you try it, if you test it out, they’ll end up losing at least an hour or two,” Liashedko says. “It makes a huge difference in the time.”
TDR’s added space will be used to store the company’s expanding fleet, and some of it will be leased out.
The location is also advantageous for its proximity to the future Amazon distribution center, he says.
“I’m sure somebody from Amazon’s distribution center building is probably going to reach out,” Liashedko says.
TDR is also beginning to see the benefits of a $1.5 million deal it made with Reading, Pa.-based transport company Penske Truck Leasing Co. in February.
“We’re actually the very first company of the fleets in Spokane to sign a contract with them,” Liashedko says. TDR already has leased 10 trucks through the deal, Liashedko says, and is due to receive 10 more next month—bringing the company’s fleet to 90 trucks. TDR decided to lease trucks through a larger company to cut down on maintenance and repair costs, Liashedko says.
“If you break down in the middle of the road somewhere, if it’s a minor fix (Penske will) come and fix it. If it’s a big fix and the truck needs to be brought into a shop, they’ll bring it in, give you another truck to drive, and then you’re back on the road,” Liashedko says. “It really cuts down the cost.”
TDR employs 120 people, Liashedko says, and has an annual revenue of about $12 million. The trucking company was established here in 1998.
