Spokane Barre, a barre exercise studio located on the third floor of the historic Globe Hotel building at 204 N. Division, is under new ownership.
New co-owners Hillary Atkins and Katie Grainger were fitness trainers on staff at Spokane Barre before purchasing the business from its previous owner, Leslie Sanborn, earlier this month.
Atkins has been an instructor with Spokane Barre for over a year. Meanwhile, Grainger started instructor training under Atkins at the studio last November and has been teaching classes for the last six months.
“Both Katie and I dreamt about having our own studio, so this was a no-brainer to take on together,” Atkins says.
The two say they haven’t made any changes to the 1,400-square-foot studio space, or its staff, although they do hope to add new merchandise.
“Luckily for us, the studio is already beautiful, and our five other instructors have agreed to stay on,” Grainger says.
Atkins adds, “Our favorite thing about this area is the support for local businesses, so we’re proud to keep it as it is and continue helping that local vibe to thrive.”
Atkins and Grainger plan a relaunch for the studio the first week of September that will include new class offerings and membership specials.
“We don’t usually offer a lot of sales, so the biggest thing is our membership package special,” Grainger says. “We’ve also planned some free classes that week to celebrate the studio’s relaunch.”
Grainger says the studio has slimmed its schedule for the summer, but plans to ramp up again soon, with more morning and evening class offerings.
“We want to give people more options, offer classes that work for different schedules,” she says. “Our goal is to keep expanding the business and bringing our passion for barre to others in the community.”
