A new brewery, to be named Brick West Beer, is on tap on the west end of downtown Spokane at 1312 W. First.
The project is being developed by two sets of brothers—Jordan and Joel Tampien, co-owners of 4 Degrees Real Estate, and Matt and Ryan Goodwin.
Spokane restaurateur Matt Goodwin says the four formed an ownership group called Brothers Brewing LLC, through which they purchased the building, formerly occupied by Watts Automotive, in August.
Goodwin and Jordan Tampien are the co-owners of two Spokane restaurants—the Boiler Room, on the North Side; and Backyard Public House, in the West Central neighborhood. Goodwin also co-owns several other Spokane-area restaurants and bars, including Press, Fast Eddies Bar & Grill, Remedy, and the Volstead Act.
Goodwin says the new brewery and tap room will occupy about 10,000 square feet of space, and the group is also remodeling a 3,000-square-foot space in the building’s southwest corner that it plans to lease as a restaurant.
Goodwin says the group started remodel work this month on its taproom, brewhouse, and restaurant. He says Spokane Valley-based T.W. Clark Construction LLC is the contractor on the remodeling project.
“We’re very excited to be located next to the new plaza that’s currently under construction,” he says.
Goodwin says he expects the brewery will start producing beer next summer, though it won’t be open to the public until October 2019. He estimates the brewery and tap room will have 25 employees.
