Basic Kneads Personal Chef & Catering has returned to the Post Falls area.
Owner and chef Rhea Skinner says she restarted the business about three months ago as an online service for customers in Spokane, Kootenai, Benewah, and Bonner counties.
“I know from past experience that this is a desired service that people really benefit from,” she says. “In the current climate, I feel more people understand what a personal chef is, so restarting the business seemed like a good idea.”
Skinner was born and raised in Seattle and started Basic Kneads there in 1989 as a bakery. She moved to the Post Falls area in 1999.
“I relocated my business here around that time, because I really liked the area,” she says. “By 2002, I’d switched gears and became a personal chef, and I’ve been one ever since.”
Skinner says the business doesn’t have a storefront; instead, it offers clients personalized food orders that are delivered every Monday morning.
Clients can choose to order from a weekly menu or complete a form that specifies dietary restrictions or taste preferences and ask Skinner to plan meals for them.
She says breakfasts and lunches cost between $8 and $9, while dinners range in cost between $11 and $13.50.
“I’m able to accommodate all dietary types, and delivery days or times can be adjusted based on the client’s needs,” she says. “I generally cook food the day before or the day of delivery to make sure everything stays as fresh as possible.”
