Douglass Properties, the company owned by well-known Spokane real estate mogul Harlan Douglass, plans to construct a $6.2 million storage facility in west Spokane that will include an office building and 14 storage buildings.
According to building permit application information on file with the City of Spokane, the Airway Heights Mini Storage facility will be constructed at 8620 U.S. 2, east of Airway Heights and north of Spokane International Airport, near Pearson Packaging Systems and Wear-Tek Inc.
Douglass Properties will act as its own contractor, according to the project application. Spokane Valley-based Architectural Ventures is listed as the project architect. Neither Douglass Properties nor Architectural Ventures responded immediately to a request for comment.
A 4,000-square-foot, two-story office building will be air conditioned, and two of the 14 pre-engineered metal storage buildings will be partially heated. The storage buildings will range in size from 1,900 square feet to 16,000 square feet. In total, 96,500 square feet will be dedicated to storage. Four of the buildings will be 14 feet high, while the rest will be 13 feet in height.
The land on which the facility will be constructed, which is zoned for light industrial use, currently is vacant. A grading permit for the site was issued in April.
