The Dinner Party, a longtime Coeur d’Alene wine and gift shop, has moved from its original space in the Costco Plaza to a larger space in the same retail center at 3500 N. Government Way.
Mary Lancaster co-owns the business along with her husband, George Balling. She says the Dinner Party hosted a grand re-opening at the new location June 22.
“We’ve been in business for about 12 years now, and we’d just outgrown the old space,” she says. “We wanted to be able to do wine tasting by the glass in a space with better visibility that was more welcoming. This was the perfect spot to do that.”
In addition to wine tasting, Lancaster says, the shop offers a small menu with rotating food options and gift items, including dinnerware, stemware, and linens.
Dinner Party offers wine club memberships, winemaker tastings, and winemaker dinners in partnership with Fleur de Sel, of Post Falls.
Lancaster says the new space, which is twice the size of the shop’s old one, previously was occupied by Great Harvest Bread Co. She says the property’s managers at Kiemle Hagood Co. arranged for the remodel.
“We did some extensive remodeling, removing the dropped ceilings, flooring, florescent lighting, and moving the restrooms to make the space wide open,” she says. “We also painted and hung some new chandeliers, and we’ve added a new seating area for wine tasting.”
Lancaster says the shop employs a total of four people, including its owners.
“We’re hoping to continue to grow,” she says. “We love to talk to people about wine and help them to find and taste the varieties they enjoy.”
