Spokane Valley-based GL8 Hospitality LLC is planning to build a new, 43,000-square-foot Tru by Hilton hotel on the northeast corner of Mirabeau Parkway and Mansfield Road, in Spokane Valley, says owner Grant Guinn.
The four-story hotel will have 92 guest rooms, says Guinn. Construction is expected to be completed in October 2020.
The project was designed by FSC Architects LLC, of Honolulu, Hawaii, and the company is considering Missoula, Montana-based Mauer Construction LLC to be the contractor, says project manager Phil Richardson, of Chicago-based Aspen Venture Group Inc., a real estate development company.
Richardson declines to disclose the project’s construction value.
Similar-sized hotel projects in Spokane County include the La Quinta Inn hotel, an 85-unit, 55,000-square-foot hotel, and a Marriott Springhill Suites hotel, an 87-unit, 42,000-square-foot hotel. Both are under construction near the Spokane International Airport, and each has a price tag of $10 million.
This Valley project is expected to be the brand’s entry into Washington state. Eighty hotels operate under that brand nationwide, with the closest being in Boise, Idaho. According to the company’s website, another 325 Tru hotels are planned.
Richardson says Tru is Hilton’s newest brand and that it seems to be well-received by guests throughout the country, which is why GL8 Hospitality chose it.
“(It’s) a very bright, cheerful guest experience that’s built around the openness of the lobby and encourages people to sit, relax in the lobby, and work on their laptops,” he says.
Amenities will include a heated indoor swimming pool and hot tub, a business center, a fitness center, complimentary ‘Top It’ breakfast bar, private work spaces, game spaces for social interaction, and bike rentals for use on the nearby Centennial Trail, says Guinn. It will also include an all-hours market, says Guinn.
Richardson says the average king room will be 230 square feet, and the average double-queen room will be 280 square feet.
The hotel will be located across Mirabeau Parkway from the CenterPlace Regional Event Center and about a mile northwest of the Spokane Valley Mall.
According to the company’s website, guests also will have access to Hilton’s digital check-in feature, and Hilton Honors members will be able to choose their rooms from a digital floor plan prior to arrival.
The hotel will be managed by Covington, Kentucky-based Commonwealth Hotels LLC, which manages 43 properties with 5,300 guest rooms.
