The beer, hard cider, and wine brewing store, HopStop Home Brew & Wine Making Supplies, of Post Falls, is doing better than expected, according to one of the store’s co-owners.
And Kris Herambourg and his wife, Tina Herambourg, say they couldn’t be more pleased about the quick start.
“We’re clearly ahead of our expectations,” Kris Herambourg says. “The store was struggling when we bought it, so we just wanted to try and break even at the outset.”
The couple recently acquired the brewery and supply store located at 4045 W. Riverbend. The business is located in a plaza south of Interstate 90 at the southwest corner of Riverbend Avenue and Pleasant View Road.
The previous owners founded HopStop in 2013, he says.
Every month since the Herambourgs purchased it in July, HopStop has either broken even or turned a profit, he says.
Starting soon, HopStop will begin offering classes to those interested in learning to brew.
“I would say brewing as a hobby has leveled off a little, but it’s a hobby that’s still going strong,” Herambourg says.
With more of a beer brewing background himself, Herambourg says he’s seeing growth in cider and wine brewing.
“It’s the abundance of fruit in our region that home brewers are taking advantage of,” he says. “Spokane, Coeur d’Alene ... we have a strong community of homemade winemakers. It’s almost bigger than the beer market.”
HopStop’s store hours currently are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays.
