
Pullman, Washington, ranks as the second-best college town in the U.S., according to a report compiled by Santa Barbara, California-based RentCafe, an online property-management marketplace.
Pullman, home to Washington State University’s flagship campus, has one of the lowest costs of living and the best air quality in RentCafe’s top 40 ranking. Pullman also is rated highly for its combination of academic excellence, safety, cultural opportunities, and natural beauty, according to the report.
“With one of the youngest populations in the top rankings, Pullman is defined by a youthful energy and enthusiasm," the report says.
Moscow, Idaho, which hosts the University of Idaho eight miles east of Pullman, is ranked seventh, earning high ratings for low cost of living, natural beauty, and research and innovation programs.
Bozeman, Montana, which hosts Montana State University, earned the top ranking for the second consecutive year, while Ellensburg, Washington, home of Central Washington University, is ranked 13th.
