Spokane Falls Recovery Center's proposed 9,400-square-foot detox and residential facility will replace an existing vacant building at the health care provider's North Spokane campus.
| Form Architecture Inc.Spokane Falls Recovery Center is planning an expansion project at its 2.5-acre health care campus in North Spokane to address a growing demand for addiction treatment and recovery services, says executive director Brandon Sturm.
A new 8-unit, 9,400-square-foot detox and residential treatment center—with an estimated construction value between $7 million and $8 million—is proposed at the site to replace an existing vacant building at the property, located at 111 E. Magnesium Road.
Contractor selection for the project was expected to happen in January, but Sturm says that hasn't happened yet. He expects to move forward with a contractor soon. Once a contractor is chosen, design plans for the new facility can be finalized and then submitted for state approval, he says. Construction could start this summer or later in the year.
Preliminary design plans show eight, 226-square-foot double-occupancy residential rooms, each with two full-size beds, clothing storage, and a TV will be included in the new building.
A 255-square-foot nurses station will be constructed in a central location near the residential rooms, and a 900-square-foot dining room with an adjoining 400-square-foot commercial kitchen will provide the capacity to accommodate meals for both staff and clients at once.
Additional proposed features include a 1,200-square-foot group living room, a 960-square-foot group room, laundry facilities, an exercise room, family meeting space, counselor offices, and other administrative areas. A large outdoor area also is planned at the site.
Tony Rosetti, of Spokane-based Form Architecture Inc., is designing the building.
Spokane Falls Recovery Center's health care campus was established in 2019 and includes an outpatient treatment center, a six-bed inpatient detox and residential treatment facility, an administration and intake center, and a warehouse building.
The proposed new facility will increase the company's detox and residential treatment capacity to 22, from the current capacity of six individuals.
