Washington State University and Fairchild Air Force Base plan to sign a memorandum of understanding for a new education partnership.
The two entities have scheduled a formal signing of the agreement at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Feb. 21, at the Washington State University Spokane campus.
In an announcement regarding the partnership, WSU and the 92nd Air Refueling Wing will collaborate to "solve real world problems for our military as well as give hands-on learning to the WSU students and faculty."
WSU's Sleep and Performance Center already has been working closely with Fairchild on research projects involving performance, safety, health, and well-being.
Those interested in attending the signing event can contact WSU's Heather Byrd at heather.byrd@wsu.edu.
Fairchild Air Force Base is the largest employer in the Spokane area, with just over 7,400 full-time equivalent employees as of last Nov. 1.
Located in Spokane's University District, the WSU Spokane satellite campus had total enrollment of 1,240 students, including undergraduate, graduate, medical school, and professional-degree students in the spring of 2024.
