Construction of a new Idaho Central Credit Union branch is underway at 10305 W. U.S. 2, on the West Plains, just outside the east boundary of Airway Heights.
The project is expected to be completed before year-end, according to Laura Smith, vice president of community development for the Chubbuck, Idaho-based credit union.
Smith declines to disclose additional details about the project.
The West Plains branch is one of at least three ongoing or planned projects that will expand ICCU’s presence in Spokane County.
A Liberty Lake branch is expected to open this year, and a branch is planned for Spokane's South Hill, the Journal previously reported.
After purchasing the former Banner Bank building in downtown Spokane and opening a branch there in 2022, ICCU has since opened branches in North Spokane and Spokane Valley.
The 6,100-square-foot West Plains branch will feature a 3,900-square-foot attached drive-thru with six teller stations, an ATM, and a night drop deposit, permit information on file with the city of Airway Heights shows.
A project cost isn't listed on the permit information. Spokane County Assessor’s Office information shows the site was purchased by ICCU in 2022 for about $1.3 million.
Baker Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, is listed as the project’s contractor, and Boise, Idaho-based Lombard-Conrad Architects Inc. is the project’s architect.
Spokane Valley-based Dumais Romans Inc. is the mechanical engineer for the project, Boise-based Eidam & Associates Ltd. is the electrical engineer, and Boise-based GLR Engineers PLLC is the structural engineer.
